Business Description:
Paul R. Young Funeral Homes has been family-run since 1948 with locations in Mt. Healthy, Hamilton and Oxford, Ohio. We provide caring and comprehensive funeral, cremation and memorial services for families during a very difficult time in their lives. Our loving, licensed staff is available twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week for those in need.

What first inspired you to get into your line of work? And what motivates you to do the work you do still today?
My husband always had a loving and ministerial heart but he also had a medical leaning. He had the heart of a servant, always, and becoming a funeral director was the best way to combine these gifts. After mortuary college, he would later attend business college so he could run his own funeral business. I supported him in the business and we opened our first funeral home in Mt. Healthy in 1948.

How did you come to faith in Christ?
We both grew up in loving, Christian homes. Paul and I met in church and were later married in the church of our childhood. Our faith was tested along with the whole nation’s during WWII. He was a medic in the war and he saw much pain and death. His letters home to me and his parents showed his faith was still strong, which encouraged us in our faith, too. He was delivered home to us, safe and sound, and the rest of his life was spent being loved by God and modeling this love to his family and friends. He was the most Christ-like man I ever knew.

How does your faith impact the way you do business?
Our faith impacts our business immensely. We are able to serve our families with joy and hope because we well know that bodily death is not the end for those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ. This time of year is an especially good reminder because we know that one day we will be resurrected with Christ and live forever with Him. And just in case some forget about those promises by winter, we remind our community about Jesus by putting life-sized Nativities, sculpted by my husband out of wax, in the front yards of our Mt. Healthy and Hamilton locations.

What ministry/cause do you champion and why?
Our business supports many causes, but for me supporting our aging veterans is especially dear to my heart. Paul was a veteran; so were his brothers and my brother. They were all able to come home and build lives and families, but that’s not the case for all veterans. I’d like to see more done for these men and women on behalf of a grateful nation. I take seriously John 15:13 and I am filled with gratitude for their sacrifices.
